Why the capsule art shows the game and not a painting of it
The small image you see for a game across Steam, in lists, searches and your wishlist, is called the capsule. It is the most viewed piece of art a game has.
The common choice is a painted illustration: heroes, banners, a dramatic sky. We had versions like that, with two knights in the foreground. They looked like many other medieval games and nothing like this one.
The capsule we published is built on a real screenshot: a siege, with engines moving up to a wall and the town behind it. The title was set so that it still reads at the smallest size Steam uses.
It is a publishing decision as much as an artistic one. Someone who clicks that image arrives at a page that shows the same thing, and a game that plays the same way. Fewer surprises at that step is good for everybody.
Age of Medieval is developed by UnderStudio in UnderStudio 2D and published by Brasa Interactive. It releases on 17 May 2027.
