Devlog: a tool is a thing somebody holds

It doubles the work and it wears out

Your cart arrives with twelve tools. They are not a bonus on a panel. Each one ends up in somebody's hand.

A villager with a tool does twice the work of one with bare hands, in every trade: the axe for the woodcutter, the hoe for the farmer, the hammer for the builder. And the tool wears a little every day it is used, until it is gone.

So a village needs a steady supply. Iron has to come from a mine or a market, a smith has to turn it into tools, and the anvil stops when the pile is full so the smith does not burn iron for nothing. If the supply breaks, nobody starves that week. The whole village just gets slower, and you feel it a month later.

Village leaders in the other Houses order tools through the market the same way. A caravan of tools is a boring cargo that everybody needs.
