Devlog: no coin comes from nowhere

Tribute, plunder and freight all leave one coffer for another

A rule we hold the economy to: coins do not appear and do not vanish. They change hands.

When you sack a village, the plunder is what was in that village's coffer, not a reward rolled by the game. A poor village yields little, and a place sacked twice in a year has nothing left the second time.

When you buy stone for your castle, the coins go to the market that sold it, and that market is richer for it. The freight you pay a caravan stays with the people who carried the load. The king's tribute is his vassals' money.

For the player this turns the map into something you can reason about. A rich town is rich because of what passed through it. A lord who buys an army has emptied a coffer somewhere. And when you want to weaken a rival, taking what feeds his coffer works better than waiting for it to run out by itself.
