Devlog: the heir inherits the war

Your lord dies. The House does not.

You do not play one man in Age of Medieval. You play a House. When your lord dies, in bed or on the field, someone takes his place and the game goes on with the same village, the same routes, the same wars and the same grudges.

By default the House passes to the eldest adult child, then to the spouse, then to a younger relative. You can also name the heir yourself and choose a regent for one who is too young.

Naming has a price. The child you passed over becomes a pretender, with a claim and a memory. Marriages tie your line to another House's border, for better and for worse.

The other Houses name heirs too. The old enemy you finally outlived is replaced by someone younger, with a different character, and the war he left behind.

Age of Medieval is developed by UnderStudio in UnderStudio 2D and published by Brasa Interactive. It releases on 17 May 2027.
