Devlog: one map, and the river decides
Relief, rivers, bridges and fords on the campaign map
Everything in Age of Medieval happens on one continuous campaign map. Every lord, caravan and wanderer moves on it in real time, whether you are watching or not.
The map has shaded relief, a coast, rivers and lakes, and it runs from snow and tundra to desert and oasis. The land decides what can be done on it: which deposits exist, what the ground of a battle looks like, where a road can go.
Water is terrain, not paint. You cannot found on it or build across it. An army or a caravan crosses a river at a bridge or a ford, which makes those the places worth holding. A battle fought on a bank has the water at somebody's back.
Zoom out and you see the realms; zoom in and you see the mills, herds and boats of the place you are about to trade with or burn.
Age of Medieval is developed by UnderStudio in UnderStudio 2D and published by Brasa Interactive. It releases on 17 May 2027.
