Age of Medieval is coming to Steam
Found a village. Lay it out street by street. Hold it.
Age of Medieval is a single-player medieval strategy game. You start on a road with a hero, four families and one wagon of timber, stone, food and tools, and you choose where your village goes. From there you lay it out street by street, open the roads that carry your trade and raise the army that keeps it all. When your lord dies, his heir inherits the village, the routes, the wars and the grudges.
Nobody waits for you. The other Houses build, trade, march, marry and put down revolts while your back is turned, and the map you come back to is not the map you left.
Build: street by street, house by house

A house only goes up beside a street, so the first thing you draw is a street out of the square. Then come the houses, the well, the woodcutter and the fields you drag out to the size the land allows. Seven ranks take a hamlet to a walled town, and each one asks for something you have to build: a closed palisade, a keep, a stone wall with towers, a market square.
- Three peoples: Valan timber, Corvus dark stone, Murth adobe. Each builds, dresses and fights its own way.
- Fields, orchards and pastures from 2x2 to 6x6. Where you put things matters, and the ghost tells you why before you click.
Trade: along the roads you paid for

No road, no trade. Build one to the neighbour stretch by stretch, see the cost and the days before you pay, then open a route and let your merchant buy low and sell high on his own. A village with no salt pays ten times what the town does.
- Eleven goods, from grain, cattle and salt to firewood, cloth, tools and arms, wanted by real people in every settlement.
- A trade deal cuts the tariff from 7% to 2%. An embargo closes every stall and route between two Houses without a war.
Fight: up to 600 men, in real time

Twelve seconds to deploy, then the enemy comes on. Box-select, attack-move, queue orders with Shift, and switch a regiment to column to march or to a circle to hold off horse. A charge into a line that has not braced its spears throws men back; a blow from the flank does more, from behind more still.
- Up to 600 men in one battle, hundreds on the field at once, the rest arriving in waves.
- Sieges are fought inside the real town: the ram leans on the gate its lord placed, and the garrison answers from the towers he built.
Rule: your heir inherits it all

Marry into the House whose border you want, swear to a king or claim a throne. Take iron and charcoal to a smithy and build a weapon part by part. Then die: the eldest adult child takes the House, then the spouse, then a younger relative.
- Put war, peace or a law to a vote at court. Trade gold, fiefs, prisoners and peace itself.
- Companions with skills, wounds and gear of their own march beside the lord.
