Devlog: five origins, five first weeks

Noble's son, soldier, merchant, hunter or wanderer

In character creation, after the people, you choose where your hero comes from. There are five origins, and each one changes the first weeks.

  • Noble's son. Raised at a court: he knows how to command and how to please. Starts with gold, a name and young nobles.
  • Soldier. Years in the ranks: he fights, leads when it gets tight and knows how to train a recruit.
  • Merchant. A child of the caravans: buys cheap, sells dear and does not go hungry. Starts with a lot of gold and cargo.
  • Hunter. Grew up in the woods: finds the way, hunts his own food and tends a wound.
  • Wanderer. The road is home: knows people, mends things and treats the sick. Starts with a companion.

An origin is a head start, not a class. Skills rise by doing, so a merchant who fights every week becomes a fighter. What the origin sets is which problems you can afford to ignore in the first season.

The people you chose and the origin combine freely. That gives fifteen ways to arrive at the same empty field.
