Devlog: a village under siege still has to eat

Rations, an emptying granary, and a herald with terms

When an enemy lord camps outside your village, the game does not freeze the village until the battle. Life inside goes on, with less of everything.

The granary is real. The village eats from it every day, and the siege panel tells you how many days are left. Loads coming from outside are intercepted, and fields, mines and woodcutters beyond the ring stop working.

You set the ration, in three levels. Full rations keep people strong and empty the granary. Short rations buy days and cost you in other ways. If the food runs out, the village gives up without a blow.

The besieger has a clock too: his men eat and desert. He may send a herald with terms, and you have until the end of the next day to answer. Friendly Houses may march to relieve you. A siege is a negotiation with hunger on both sides.
